Dragons |DRAH-Gon|

The Dragons of Aramyth are proud descendants of the ancient beings first created by Thotth. Originally, these immense creatures roamed the stars freely, serving as explorers and emissaries of their creator, traveling through celestial realms. Over generations, however, the dragons became increasingly independent. They refused to serve Thotth’s will (See Rise of the Dragons in the lore section), instead wanting to amass the wealth of knowledge and possessions they had gathered throughout their journeys. In turn, Thotth cursed them, ravaging the dragonkind, diminishing much of their former glory and raw power over the generations to follow. They can no longer soar between planets, bound instead to the planets they inhabit. Their once-peerless mastery over psychic and arcane forces has also faded, diminished to levels that, while formidable, are closer to those of mortals.

Yet, even in their cursed state, dragons remain awe-inspiring and revered. Their cunning intelligence and ability to fly across great distances make them respected and, at times, even feared, by all the realms’ inhabitants. While no two dragons are alike, they all share a proud heritage, with physical forms that vary in size, color, and intricate patterning—a testament to their diverse experiences and origins.

Though many of their ancestral powers are lost, dragons retain the deeply rooted legacy of their ancient wisdom. Memories and knowledge are passed from generation to generation, gifting each dragon with insights and echoes of the past that sometimes offer crucial guidance. (See the Ancestral Knowledge skill for more details.) In addition to this collective memory, dragons wield a potent fiery breath—an elemental flame imbued with magical properties that allow them to defend themselves and their domains.

It's rumored that some of the ancients still exist, guarding the major wyrdways and dreaming of gold and silver.

Dwarves |Dworf |

Dwarves are stout and robust humanoid beings known for their enduring strength, craftsmanship, and deep-rooted traditions they build their cities within the vast caverns and underways of Aramyth known as Femmyth.

Dwarves are characterized by their short stature, averaging about 4 feet 2 inches in height, and their stocky build, typically weighing around 160 pounds. They possess broad shoulders, thick arms and legs, and a sturdy frame that reflects their natural resilience and physical prowess. One of the most distinctive features of Dwarves is their long, elaborate beards, which are a source of pride and cultural significance. However, beards are not always gender centric. It’s true that All Dwarves can grow thick, elaborate beards, but not all Dwarves appreciate or choose to grow them. For some, a beard symbolizes their heritage and identity, meticulously groomed and decorated with beads, rings, and other adornments. For others, the choice to remain clean-shaven or keep a shorter beard is personal, reflecting their tastes and lifestyles.

Dwarves are among the oldest species in Aramyth, and their lineage is traced back to the ancient Ayre. They are renowned for their craftsmanship, particularly in metalwork, stonemasonry, and engineering. Dwarven cities are marvels of architecture carved deep into the heart of mountains and underground caverns. These cities, adorned with intricate carvings and glowing with light reflected by elaborately placed mirrors and gemstones, serve as both homes and centers of industry for the Dwarven clans.

Dwarven society is structured around clans, each with its lineage, traditions, and ancestral halls within their underground realms. Clan loyalty is paramount among Dwarves, and disputes between clans are often settled through tests of craftsmanship or feats of strength rather than outright conflict. Dwarves are known for their love of ale and spirits brewed from hops and barley, and communal feasting and celebrations are common occurrences in Dwarven settlements.

While many Dwarves are warriors, owing to their natural strength and martial traditions, Dwarven society values skill and proficiency in various crafts. Dwarven artisans are highly sought after for their mastery of smithing, gem-cutting, and the creation of intricate mechanical devices. Dwarven engineers are responsible for designing and maintaining the complex systems of tunnels, forges, and defenses that characterize their underground cities.

Dwarves have a complex relationship with the other species of Aramyth. They often trade with neighboring civilizations, exchanging finely crafted goods for exotic foods, resources, and knowledge. Dwarves are respected for their integrity, loyalty, and sense of honor, but they are also known for their stubbornness and fierce independence. While they value alliances and mutual benefit, Dwarves are cautious about revealing the secrets of their underground realms to outsiders.

The most significant achievements of Dwarvenkind lie in their resilience and enduring legacy. Despite facing threats from creatures of the deep and the challenges of maintaining vast underground cities, Dwarves have persevered through millennia.

Their craftsmanship and technological innovations have shaped the history of Aramyth, contributing to the prosperity and security of their people and earning them admiration and respect across the realms.

Dwarves stand as stalwart guardians of tradition and Craftsmanship in the depths of Aramyth. With their strong bonds of kinship, indomitable spirit, and unwavering dedication to their craft, Dwarves embody the resilience and ingenuity that have defined their species throughout history. As custodians of ancient knowledge and guardians of the deeps, Dwarves continue to forge their legacy as pillars of strength and honor in a world filled with peril and opportunity.

Elves are governed by a political hierarchy utilizing a council system. Thirteen council members, each representing one of the 13 great houses symbolized by a great tree, pass all judgments. The council operates under the guidance of a speaker, an honored position highly coveted by all the houses. The speaker is chosen through a secret magical vetting process and cannot be a council member. This council system is intricately tied to the Elven calendar, which consists of 13 months, mirroring the 13 houses.

Elves use the Green Language, which they consider the perfect communication form. This language is divided into two forms: the trees' written language and the hills' spoken language. Their long lifespans give them a deep perspective on life, which can sometimes come off as arrogant or demeaning to non-elves, though no offense is usually intended.

Elves play a vital role as stewards of the natural world. They are often found as rangers, druids, and healers, using their deep knowledge of nature to protect and preserve the environment. Their skills in archery, swordsmanship, and magic make them formidable allies in any conflict, and their wisdom and diplomatic skills are invaluable in maintaining peace and harmony.

Elves and Seterians have a long-running feud over which species is older. Elves often recite history and lore to assert their age and lineage. Despite this rivalry, Elves interact extensively with other species, bringing their cultural richness and knowledge wherever they go.

In their communities, Elves celebrate life through festivals, art, music, and storytelling, always honoring their connection to the forests and the natural world. Their skin has a sun-kissed, earthy tone, ranging from deep browns to pale, mossy greens, often streaked with mud, leaves, or ash from their fires. They wear only minimal clothing when in their home environments, preferring to remain one with nature. Their hair is wild and untamed, often tangled with flowers, twigs, and leaves from their woodland homes. Bonfires are their favorite gathering point, where they sing, laugh, and dance under the stars, with no care for the world beyond their forest.
